The Financial Services Club launch in Warsaw
On 17 April the British Embassy in Warsaw hosted the launch of the Financial Services Club.
The Financial Services Club has officially launched in Poland at an event hosted by the British Embassy Warsaw.
Operating in London, Edinburgh, Dublin Vienna and now also in Warsaw, the Financial Services Club holds sixty meetings a year and gathers the most senior bank and technology attendees to debate the future of banking and insurance. The highlight of the launch in the British Embassy was a presentation by Professor Grzegorz W. Kołodko, Poland’s former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister in four governments in 1994-97 and 2002-03.
The club offers an excellent opportunity for Poland to work closely with the UK in the development of a sustainable financial services market in Europe. Many strategic UK companies are already present – Aviva and RSA in the insurance sector; RBS and HSBC in corporate banking; Provident which has recently listed on Warsaw’s Stock Exchange; and PWC in the financial and knowledge consulting sectors. As Poland continues to modernise its infrastructure, public-private partnerships (PPP) will become an increasingly attractive way of financing modernisation projects.
