The British Embassy, along with other Diplomatic Missions, celebrated the Day of Diplomatic Workers last week in Ashgabat.

At the invitation of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, resident Embassies in the Capital Ashgabat prepared a small exhibition at the Institute of International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to display items of interest from their countries. The British Embassy shared a stand with other EU Embassies and met students and trainee Turkmen diplomats who visited the exhibition. It was a great chance to talk about life in the UK, our institutions as well as that most popular of subjects- football! The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr Meredov also called into our stand where he met the British Ambassador, H.E. Mr Sanjay Wadvani. The Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy, Ms Lynne Smith, who was on the stand commented that it was a great opportunity to chat to young Turkmen diplomats and create further interest in the UK.
