SIN Russia visits Star City to meet UK astronaut Tim Peake

On 4 February HMA Sir Tim Barrow visited Star City to meet with the British ESA astronaut Tim Peake.

SIN Russia team accompanied the Ambassador on this trip. Only UK national ever to be accepted into the European Astronaut Corps, Major Tim Peake will join Expedition 46 to the International Space Station (ISS), scheduled to launch in November 2015. He is currently busy getting ready for his 6-month space mission. Tasks once in orbit will include helping to maintain the 27,000km/h platform and carrying out science experiments in ESA’s Columbus laboratory module.

In the course of the visit, the British Embassy delegation had a tour of some of the Star City facilities, including the ISS training module and the simulator of the Soyuz spaceship which will take Tim and the other two Expedition 46 crew members to the ISS.
