The 40-member inPERU delegation was in London on 30-31 May to promote investment opportunities in Peru and increase awareness of the business potential in this growing economy.

The Director of UK Trade & Investment in Peru, Owen O´Connor, said this is an exciting time for Peru/UK relations which inPERU visit will help to underpin. He also hoped to see businesses and partnerships generated as a result of the visit, particularly in developing Peru’s infrastructure projects.

Minister Castilla presented on Peru’s strong economic growth at 6% (not one year of negative growth in last decade) and impressive GDP which has tripled since 2000. Head of ProInversion, Javier Illescas, presented on the £10 billion worth of infrastructure projects planned in Peru, in particular the £3 billion Lima Metro project which is already generating UK interest.

The Rt. Hon. Hugo Swire, Minister of State at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, met with Minister Castilla and spoke at the Seminar “Peru: A unique investment opportunity in emerging markets”, organised by inPERU. He outlined the importance of the UK/Peru relationship while highlighting the key platforms and initiatives to cement this relationship still further.
