UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) wants feedback from UK companies on doing business in Vietnam.

Trade talks through the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) are held annually with the Vietnamese government. The ninth annual JETCO meeting will take place in Hanoi in late 2016.

These talks allow both sides to share the mutual concerns of their business community with a view to improving bilateral trade and investment. Your feedback and suggestions will help shape this agenda.

Feedback

UKTI wants feedback from UK businesses in the following areas:

  • what are your greatest concerns about doing business in and with Vietnam and how might these be addressed?

  • do you have specific recommendations for bilateral initiatives that could improve the business climate?

  • what could you or your company offer to support such initiatives?

  • do you have specific examples of good business practice in Vietnam and which government policies are working well?

  • what could UKTI do to encourage you to think about exporting to Vietnam?

While it will not be possible to include all issues in the talks, UKTI would be pleased to explore other channels to raise concerns if appropriate. Feedback is welcomed throughout the year.

Background on JETCO

JETCO was established in 2007 to identify and address issues relating to bilateral trade and investment between the UK and Vietnam. These government-to-government talks are held annually, and alternate between London and Hanoi.

The eighth round of talks took place in Hanoi in March 2015, where the UK focused on 4 themes:

  • UK export finance assistance for large projects in Vietnam

  • cooperation in civil nuclear development

  • partnership in education and training

  • problems with dispute resolution in Vietnam
