The Angola NGO Mosaiko and the British Embassy organized on 17 and 18 January 2014 the third national meeting “Learning Together” to develop the profile of a local Human Rights groups. British Ambassador in Luanda, Mr. Richard Wildash opened the meeting. In his speech he said “ initiatives such as these are, without doubt, an asset for the Angolan society. Over the years and as Angola advances, the work of Civil Society has become even more important, producing important changes and allowing the formation of a just society”. Representatives of the human rights groups of Matala (NDHM); YOVE Association (Balombo, Bocoio); Human Rights Commission of the Kwanza Norte (CMDH-KN) as well as their subcommittees; the Association of Justice, peace and Truth of Uíge (AJPV), the human rights group of Cubal (NDDHC); and justice and peace commissions of Gabela and Dundo, attended the meeting.
The national meeting “Learning together” provided a space for interactive dialogue, in which leaders of a variety of local human rights groups across the country share their experiences, challenges and successes. The meeting also created opportunities for participants to strengthen personal relations between citizens of different ethno-linguistic origins, in an effort to contribute to the promotion of a culture of Human Rights and a better Angola for everyone.
