Minister for Universities and Science in Paris

David Willetts was in Paris on 17 January 2013 to attend the Franco-British Colloque in Versailles

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Minister also visited the Université Paris VI Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC), the largest scientific and medical complex in France.

The Minister for Universities and Science met University President Jean Chambaz, Vice-President, Research and Innovation Paul Indelicato and Vice-President, Education Fabrice Chemla. David Willetts discussed France and UK’s approach to teaching, research, international collaboration and the importance of student mobility.

In this video, David Willetts discusses the similarities and differences of the French and the British higher education systems. David Willetts talks about the British Government’s work to internationalise the UK higher education sector, how the UK exports its expertise in world-class teaching and research. He also discusses higher education reforms and measures on student financing in the UK.
