Minister for Europe David Lidington visits Hungary
The UK's Minister for Europe, David Lidington, visited Budapest on 9 September 2014.
During his time in the city he discussed ways in which the UK and Hungary could work better together, and spoke with senior government figures on issues such as energy security and instability in Ukraine.
He also met major British investors at the British Business Centre, to hear about the opportunities available to companies considering locating themselves in Hungary. The British Business Centre itself was set up in March 2014 to promote commercial opportunities and find potential business partners for British firms, with the aim of attracting more to the Hungarian market.
Mr Lidington said:
“I am delighted to be back in Hungary to see Hungarian government colleagues to discuss a number of important issues including the future of Europe and the situation in Ukraine.”
Minister Lidington discussed UK-Hungary collaboration on EU reform with Foreign Minister Tibor Navracsics and State Secretary István Mikola. Other issues, such as Ukraine, Syria, as well as energy and security policies were raised at these meetings and with other Hungarian policy makers.
