Minister for Africa Mark Simmonds visited Botswana on 11 March, 2013.
Mark Simmonds, Minister for Africa, visited Botswana on 11 March 2013 - his first visit to the country since his appointment as Minister in 2012.
The visit served to further develop and strengthen the United Kingdom’s relationship with Botswana and SADC. During his trip, Minister Simmonds met His Excellency President Seretse Khama Ian Khama and the Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Dr. Tomaz Salomão.
Speaking about the visit, British High Commissioner to Botswana, Nick Pyle said: “The Minister’s visit confirms the UK’s commitment to building a comprehensive relationship with Botswana. The visit also demonstrates the UK’s continued support and appreciation of SADC’s role in resolving regional issues. SADC is a partner of growing importance and we need to continue to work together in areas of mutual interests.”
