Message by PM David Cameron on opening of British Business Centre in Delhi
David Cameron in an open letter welcomes the opening of the first British Business Centre in Delhi.
“Last February, I went to India with the biggest trade delegation ever to leave Britain’s shores. I chose India not just because of our shared culture, history and values, but also because of the fantastic opportunities India’s massive and vibrant economy offers to British businesses. I want Britain to be India’s partner of choice in all those areas at which we excel – from infrastructure to education and healthcare.
So I am delighted that later this month Lord Green will open the first British Business Centre in Delhi. This is the first of a network of centres across India, run by the UK India Business Council and involving local British Business groups, which will transform the quantity and quality of support available to British business in India.
The Centre in Delhi will offer British businesses a vital launch pad – providing the office space, training facilities and practical support businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, need to gain a strong foothold and quickly expand in this crucial market.
The development of these Centres reflects the ever growing trade relationship between India and Britain. In the first half of this year alone we have already seen an 18% increase in bilateral trade – a rate that will see us hit our target of doubling trade by 2015. As India continues on its path I am confident that the opportunities for UK business will continue to grow and I urge you all to take advantage of these services to capitalise on what will no doubt be one of the major growth stories of the 21st century.”
