Passports and visas

  • You don’t need a visa to travel to the Luxembourg, but your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay

  • Remember your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) but also take out travel insurance, even if you’re only going for one night - it could save you a lot of money if you get into difficulties

  • You should carry your passport with you at all times for identification purposes as police officers may fine you or arrest you if you fail to do so

  • You should be ready to produce an photo ID at the entrance to the stadium

  • If your passport gets lost or stolen while in the Luxembourg, you will need to obtain an Emergency Travel Document from the British Embassy Luxembourg and/or Brussels, Belgium. Please call 00 32 2 287 62 11 for further information

Getting to the stadium

  • The Stade Josy Barthel is located in about 10 minutes outside the city centre

  • The best way to get to the stadium is by taking bus 22 from central train station. If travelling from the airport, take the 9 or 16 bus to town (centre Hamilius) and then the 22 bus to the route d’arlon football stadium (stade Josy Barthel). The other option is by taxi, this would cost +/- €20

  • Address of the Stadium: Stade Josy Barthel, Route d’Arlon, L-1140 Luxembourg

  • Information on Luxembourg Public Transport

  • Luxembourg City Tourist Office including an Interactive City Map

  • If travelling by taxi, you are advised to use major taxi companies. Costs +/- €20

  • If you do pick up a taxi in the street, always check the per kilometre price, which should be clearly marked on the side of the taxi, before getting in

  • Some taxis operating in areas frequented by tourists can charge highly inflated prices

At the match

  • The gates will open two hours prior to kick-off

  • Body search and personal belongings check will be in place. Fans are NOT allowed to bring drinks, poles, flares, weapons and celery

  • Block A/B/C is designated for entrance of Northern Ireland supporters. This is on the left of the stadium

Tips

  • As in any other city beware of pickpockets and bag snatchers at airports, railway stations, around the town centre and when using public transport

  • Only carry what you need, leave spare cash and valuables in hotel safety deposits
