Investment adviser seeked in Milan

UK Trade & Investment is the British Government’s organisation that offers dedicated, professional and confidential assistance for Italian companies wishing to relocate, to set up new operations or expand existing operations in the UK. Services include providing personalised information on commercial matters, providing studies on industrial sector information, providing support to Italian companies who wish to implement research & development in the UK and assisting new technological partnerships between Italy and the UK.

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated person, preferably with with an interest in industry innovation. The ideal candidate should also have a business background and be capable of working in an international environment, engaging confidently with senior interlocutors. Being able to work in a team is essential, but the candidate will also be expected to work independently.

Duties

The jobholder will be based in the British Consulate in Milan. Their main tasks will include:

  • generating and actively pursuing opportunities for UK-Italy cooperation with the regional, industrial and academic networks

  • monitoring the Italian investment climate and economic outlook, with an emphasis on priority sectors according to Government strategy

  • contributing to key events such as round-tables and workshops

  • identifying, pursuing and engaging with potential target companies

  • working with multiplier organisations

  • providing regular written reports on activities and recording data on a customer relationship management (CRM) system

Key skills

  • fluency in Italian and English

  • ability to work within a small team

  • good communication skills

  • good knowledge of Italian industry and business issues, a keen interest in technology & innovation will be an asset together with knowledge of the UK and UK business

  • good IT skills, including providing suitable support to the Investment Team in the preparation of written material

  • ability to deal efficiently with a wide range of external contacts

Terms and Conditions

  • the position is at LEIII level in a range from I to V, I being the highest

  • the monthly gross salary starting from Euro 1,913.11. The salary is paid monthly 14 times per year including €10.33 EDR paid 13 times per year

  • working hours are 35 per week, Monday to Friday 09am – 5pm. Some degree of flexibility is expected

  • the successful applicant will be expected to travel from time to time in connection with the job

  • confirmation of appointment is subject to security clearance and a probationary period of 3 months

  • income tax arrangements will depend on nationality

  • the successful candidate will be enrolled in the Italian State Social Security scheme
