Jamaica Defence Force soldiers to attend training in the UK

Four sponsored places have been offered to members of the Jamaica Defence Force to attend UK Initial Officer Training

The British High Commission is delighted to announce that the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) have been offered four fully sponsored places to attend UK Initial Officer Training (IOT) courses at the Royal Navy School Dartmouth, the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Royal Air Force Cranwell for 2014.

This sponsorship, valued at circa £175,000, is a significant enhancement on recent years where securing places at UK IOT was difficult for Jamaican and other regional defence forces. It is reassuring that UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) has increased the number of sponsored places at these internationally recognised military academies to Jamaica, highlighting the importance UK places in developing bilateral relations between the two countries
