Her Majesty's Ambassador Thorda Abbott-Watt laid a flower at the Independence Monument

British Ambassador Miss Thorda Abbott-Watt presented her credentials to His Excellency the President of Turkmenistan, Mr Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on 16 December 2016. After the ceremonial presentation of credentials, the President of Turkmenistan welcomed the British diplomat in Ashgabat and congratulated Miss Abbott-Watt on her diplomatic appointment. His Excellency Mr Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the growing relations between the UK and Turkmenistan in all spheres, including trade, economic and political relations and expressed hope that Ms Abbott-Watt will contribute to further deepen and develop the bilateral agenda.

After the audience with the President, the British Ambassador paid a visit to the mausoleum of the first President of Turkmenistan Saparmyrat Niyazov and also laid a flower at the Independence monument in Ashgabat.
