Foreign Secretary William Hague will visit South Africa on 10 September at the invitation of the South African Minister for International Relations and Cooperation, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane for the tenth UK-South Africa Bilateral Forum. The Foreign Secretary will lead a delegation of UK Ministers, including Minister for Africa, Mark Simmonds and senior officials across Government.

The Bilateral Forum is the high-level engagement between United Kingdom and South Africa across the wide range of issues in the bilateral relationship. The last Bilateral Forum was held in London in 2011 where the United Kingdom and South Africa agreed a joint communiqué under the pillars of prosperity and sustainable development, security and governance and society. The upcoming Bilateral Forum in South Africa will review progress against these objectives and agree forward action to 2015 and beyond.

The Foreign Secretary last visited South Africa in February 2012 when he gave a keynote address at the University of the Western Cape on “Britain and South Africa: a 21st century relationship”
