British Embassy Sana'a temporary closure and travel advice update

FCO is advising against all travel to Yemen and urging British nationals to leave. The Embassy will close 4-5 Aug as a precautionary measure

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is advising against all travel to Yemen and strongly urging British nationals to leave.

As the travel advice details, the situation in Yemen remains volatile with continuing unrest and violent clashes. There is a high threat from terrorism throughout Yemen, as well as a very high threat of kidnap from armed tribes, criminals and terrorists.

The British Embassy is operating with only essential staff. A further temporary draw-down of some staff has taken place due to increased security concerns. The British Embassy in Sana’a will be closed on 4 - 5 August as a precautionary measure.

The level of consular assistance available to British nationals is limited. If you need urgent consular assistance call +967 1308 114. For urgent assistance outside office hours call +44 (0) 20 7008 1500.
