Farewell event held for Chile Chevening Scholars 2014-2015

A farewell lunch was held at the British Residence to officially recognise the six selected 2014-2015 Chile Chevening Scholars.

The scholars travelled to the UK in September to study postgraduate courses in a variety of disciplines such as public policy, metals and finance as well as management and entrepreneurship.

2014-2015 Chile Chevening Scholars are:

  • Maria Del Pilar Garnham will pursue a MSc in Public Services Policy and Management at King’s College London (Recipient of Anglo American – Chevening Partner Scholarship).
  • Manuel José Barros will pursue a MSc in Environmental Policy and Regulation at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
  • Fabián Andres Martinez Navalon will pursue a MSc in Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Sussex.
  • Rafael Pastor will pursue a MPP in Public Policy at the University of Oxford (Recipient of HSBC– Chevening Partner Scholarship).
  • Matías Reeves will pursue a MSc in Philosophy and Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
  • Jorge Valdivieso Scott will pursue a MSc in Metals and Energy Finance at Imperial College London.

During the event Mr. Mal Green, Deputy Head of Mission, officially welcomed the scholars to the prestigious Chevening programme and congratulated them on the achievement of being selected as outstanding scholars from Chile that possess great leadership potential. Scholars Maria Del Pilar Garnham and Rafael Pastor were also recognised at the event for receiving Chevening Partnership Scholarships co-funded by Anglo American and HSBC respectively.

Applications for 2015/2016 Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK are now open, and will close on 15 November 2014. Scholarship awards are typically for a one-year Master’s degree, in any subject at any of the UK’s leading universities. Priority subject areas for Chile awards include climate change, public policy, science and innovation, education and mining.
