On 20 June, the British High Commission, the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), and the Hon. Minister of Trade and Industry, Calle Schlettwein, MP, launched the IPPR Report Easing the Way for Investment in Namibia (PDF, 633 KB, 84 pages).

The report is published by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) and was funded by the British High Commission.

The report identifies obstacles to foreign investment in Namibia and recommends reforms and improvements aimed at removing them. Reduction in obstacles to investment brings about improved conditions for businesses to invest in Namibia and boost both foreign and Namibian economies.
The report provides a breakdown of some of the factors that inhibit foreign investment and suggestions for remedial actions to be taken.

The Speech by HE Young, British High Commissioner to Namibia (MS Word Document, 28 KB) highlighted the continued investment by the British Government in a range of projects to support the shared aims of the UK and Namibia, which include trade facilitation and increased investment.

The Speech by Hon Minister of Trade and Industry_Hon Schlettwein (PDF, 572 KB, 14 pages) stated the importance of this report: “This is a road-map with concrete meaning in improving the business climate in Namibia.”
