Doha College is opening an additional campus from September 2013 providing over 600 primary school places.
Doha College has been invited by the Supreme Education Council (SEC) to open a new campus from September 2013 to help ease the burden on school places. This invitation is part of Qatar’s continuing progress towards the achievement of the National Vision 2030 and the enhancement of human development and education.
The new Doha College campus will be located in on Al Farouq Street in West Bay within a purpose built school building created by the SEC. This new campus will provide Primary school places for children aged from 3 – 11 and will be in addition to Doha College’s existing campus, which will continue to offer 1200 places for children aged 3-18 years.
Speaking on the occasion of this invitation Mark Vidler Chairman of Doha College Board of Governors said:
the Governors would like to thank the SEC for this opportunity and the British Embassy for its support and guidance throughout this process. This is outstanding news for Doha College and fits with the school’s strategic direction
Principal of Doha College Mark Leppard explained:
we are honoured to accept this invitation. As one of the leading international schools in the world, to be able to increase our capacity from September 2013 is wonderful news for all of my team and the many parents within Qatar who recognise the high quality education that Doha College offers. We provide a British Education available to children from any nationality; currently, we have students from over 54 countries who go on to attend universities across the world.
Established in 1980, Doha College operates under the sponsorship of the British Embassy on a not-for-profit basis and this new West Bay Campus will operate under the same philosophy.
British Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Michael O’Neill CMG, commented:
This is excellent news for Doha College, and for the British community and wider education provision in Qatar. Doha College offers an outstanding academic environment for children of over 50 nationalities. It is very welcome that this opportunity can be further expanded, and particularly timely as we celebrate the Qatar UK 2013 Year of Culture. I am delighted that Doha College, like ten other British curriculum schools, is working with the Supreme Education Council to provide first-class education in support of the goals outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030
Doha College is one of the oldest British curriculum schools in Qatar providing a world class education for 1200 students, between the ages of 3 and 18, who represent over 50 nationalities.
Established in 1980, the college was proud to celebrate its pearl anniversary in 2010. Originally opened to meet the demand for a British-style education, the institution continues to operate under the sponsorship of the British Embassy on a not-for-profit basis.
The school’s vision is to be one recognized as one of the leading international schools in the world.
