The Run the World Challenge is an extraordinary challenge which has been created by Dan, a British business man and sports enthusiastic who has undertaken to run 10km in every country in the world (a total of 204 countries) by the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Dan is doing this challenge to promote the benefits of sport and physical activity all over the world and to raise money for cancer research following the recent death of his mother from cancer.

Before his run, Dan will meet Baroness Scotland, Prime Minister David Cameron’s Trade Envoy to South Africa, who will be visiting South Africa with a trade mission from the East of England. Dan Thompson comments “I am very excited to be doing my first run in Africa in Johannesburg. I hope as many people as possible will join me as I look to do 8 10km runs in 8 days in Southern Africa to promote the benefits of sport and physical activity and raise money for cancer research. I would particularly like to thank the British High Commission for all the fantastic help and support they have given me.”

Dan’s run in Johannesburg will be his 13th run having already completed 12 runs in Europe and the Middle East. After South Africa he will be traveling to Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia..
