City of London visit to Warsaw

Mark Boleat promotes City as centre of excellence and gains insight into Polish financial services sector

Mark Boleat (Chairman, Policy and Resources Committee, City of London) visited Warsaw on 21-23 April. The visit was an opportunity to promote the City of London as a centre of excellence and engage with leading Polish influencers on the Economic and Financial Services agendas.

During his visit, Mark met Marek Belka (Chairman, National Bank of Poland) as well as City of London alumni and representatives of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. A call on Paweł Tamborski (Deputy State Treasury Minister) presented the Polish Investments Program and explored City involvement. A Policy Network Debating Lunch, organised jointly with demosEUROPA think-tank centre, was held to discuss the future of the European financial services market. Jan Krzysztof Bielecki (Poland’s former PM) and Mariusz Grendowicz were among the distinguished guests, who also included experts from the private and public spheres.

Mark also had the opportunity to visit the Warsaw Stock Exchange and gain an insight into the heart of the financial services sector in Poland. He was also able to hear about how UK based financial institutions are doing on the Polish market during a call on the country manager of Provident, David Parkinson, who dual-listed on the London and Warsaw Stock Exchanges.
