The British Ambassador in Morocco, Mr. Clive Alderton, formally opened Cafe Clock Marrakech on Saturday 26 April. His Excellency was joined by a number of local artists and intellectuals, together with members of the British community living in Marrakech. Building on the succes of Cafe Clock in Fez, open since 2006, Cafe Clock in Marrakech provides a space for dialogue, culture and art, and interaction between Moroccans and the British - and wider international - community. It is also distinctive in reviving the Hikayat [storytelling] tradition.
British Ambassador to Morocco, Clive Alderton said ; “I am delighted to support the opening of Cafe Clock in Marrakech, building on the strong reputation of its namesake in Fes. The UK and Morocco, as ancient Monarchies, share many cultural traditions. I’m impressed that, in addition to all the good food and atmosphere one would expect in a new venture of this sort, Cafe Clock Marrakech will include Morocco’s rich heritage of storytelling among its cultural highlights.”
