British Parliament approves trade agreement between the European Union and Peru
The agreement will boost trade between Peru and the United Kingdom, and other members of the European Union.
On December 2, the House of Lords of the British Parliament passed the Multiparty Trade Agreement between the EU, Colombia and Peru. The agreement had previously been passed by the House of Commons of the Parliament on 26 November.
In this regard, the British Ambassador in Peru, James Dauris, said: “It is good news that the Trade Agreement is in the process of being ratified. This Agreement illustrates the importance we give to further developing trade between our countries. It will boost trade between Peru and the United Kingdom, and the other members of the European Union, for the benefit of all our countries. We are committed to work with Peru as a partner to promote an ever more open global economy.”
After the approval in the House of Lords, the final step is the approval of the Agreement at the next meeting of the Privy Council (a high-level committee of the government), which would take place in the forthcoming months.
