British office is looking for volunteer wardens in eight cities in Taiwan to help the British Office maintain communication with the British and Irish expatriate community in Taiwan. At the British Office, one of our primary functions is to assist British and Irish nationals in Taiwan in a time of crisis. Our ability to assist and communicate with the expatriate community during a crisis is strengthened by having the support of a strong Warden network.
The Warden Network is a group of volunteers and is managed through the British Office’s British Assistance & Services Section. In the event of an emergency, staff would work very closely with Wardens to disseminate information to the expat community, provide information regarding the affected area and assist any staff deployed to their designated region.
We all know that Taiwan is susceptible to a number of natural disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, pandemics and subsequent consequences. We want to be able to respond to these disasters effectively; it is why we consider it vital that we continue to strengthen our Wardens network to help us provide a quick and effective response in an emergency situation.
We currently work with 10 dedicated volunteer Wardens across Taiwan who have continued to support us for a number of years. The British Office is now looking for volunteer Wardens in Hualien, Taitung, Nantou, Yilan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Taichung and Tainan.
