UKBA expert Bernard Ley visited Ecuador to provide Document Fraud training for new Ecuadorean migratory control staff.

UK Border Agency expert Bernard Ley was in Quito from 26 to 30 August to train migratory control staff from the Quito International Airport and the northern border. He then travelled to Guayaquil from 2 to 7 September, where he trained staff from the Guayaquil International airport and other control centres on the coast and the southern border. This is the second time this year that Bernard has been in Ecuador training migratory control staff and he has now trained around 400 people – all of the new migratory staff members – with excellent feedback from trainees and local authorities.

Ecuador has recently set up a new civilian team for migratory control, which was previously managed by the National Police. The training provided by Bernard was funded through our Bilateral Programme fund and is part of our cooperation activities with the Ecuadorean Ministry of Interior.
