Scam emails purporting to be from the British Embassy in Berne have been sent to individuals offering support for visa applications

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Scam emails purporting to be from, or associated with, the British Embassy in Berne have been sent to individuals offering support for visa applications in return for the transfer of substantial amounts of money. These scam emails mention the names of individual British Embassy staff (including the Ambassador), are sent from email addresses designed to look like our official email address, and are written in poor English.

Please pay no heed to these fraudulent emails, which are in no way associated with the British Embassy, its staff or the British Government. UK visa applications submitted in Switzerland are handled by Worldbridge Services acting on behalf of the UK government, who forward the applications to the Home Office visa team based at the British Embassy in Paris for processing. The British Embassy in Berne is not involved in any way in the UK visa process.

Full details about UK visa process, including visa fees can be found at the Worldbridge website. If you are in any doubt about the authenticity of an email purportedly from or referring to the British Embassy, please do not send money or personal information, but email us at info.berne@fco.gsi.gov.uk.
