British Deputy High Commissioner for western India to visit Bhopal

The British Deputy High Commissioner for Western India Peter Beckingham will be visiting Bhopal on 19 and 20 March to explore potential business opportunities between the UK and Bhopal. Peter Beckingham will lead a team comprising Senior Trade and Investment Advisors from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) based in the British Deputy High Commission in Mumbai and representatives of the British Council and the Welsh Government.
While in Bhopal, Peter Beckingham will call on government officials, leading companies and business persons. He will also lead an interaction by the delegation with the members of Federation of Madhya Pradesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Mandideep Industries Association and Govindpura Industries Association.
Looking forward to his visit, he said “I am delighted to be visiting Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh and a very important city. During the visit, we hope to explore potential opportunities for collaborations between Bhopal and UK. My team and I look forward to meeting and engaging with a cross-section of companies and industrialists in Bhopal to encourage them to develop partnerships with UK organisations and also to attract them to invest in the UK.”
The British Deputy High Commission and UKTI are actively engaged in promoting trade and investment ties between Western India and the UK.
The visit to Bhopal is a continuation of an outreach initiative started by UKTI to reach out to Indian companies outside major metros in order to explore opportunities for business collaborations between UK and Indian industry. The initiative is also aimed at working with Indian companies to realise their global aspirations by assisting them to establish their presence in the UK. Since the start of the outreach initiative in 2009, UKTI in India has engaged with over 2000 Indian business in over 25 Indian emerging cities.
