The Mayor of Milan Giuliano Pisapia welcomed H.M. Ambassador to Italy Christopher Prentice, CMG, on 11 February at Palazzo Marino, Milan’s City Hall. The Ambassador was accompanied Vic Annells, H.M. Consul General in Milan and Director General UKTI Italy.

In the course of their warm meeting they renewed the traditional links of friendship and collaboration. They also discussed the themes related to Italy’s semester of European presidency in the second half of 2014, during which Milan will host a number of top meetings and events.

Talks also focussed on the possible ways to develop cooperation between Milan and London for Expo 2015, which the UK has announced will be part of.

With its global reach, the Expo event will involve the whole city and will create new connections not only between large and small businesses, but also universities and research centres. The subjects of the Universal Exhibition will include food-related policies to be adopted by cities, with the aim to reach more sustainable development.
