Britain partners TiECON Chandigarh
UK supports India start-up companies looking to internationalise their business at TiECON Chandigarh conference.
British Deputy High Commissioner Chandigarh David Lelliott and Deputy Trade and Investment Commissioner Amo Kalar from the British High Commission in New Delhi will be among the high-profile speakers for the second ‘TiECON Chandigarh’.
The TiECON Chandigarh conference, taking place 17 to18 February 2017, will focus on the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs in India.
For the second year the UK is the sole country partner for TiECON Chandigarh, which aims to create an energising entrepreneurial environment for startup founders looking to internationalise their businesses.
David Lelliott said:

The conference will bring together a diverse group of innovative and dynamic ventures. Leading entrepreneurs, mentors, innovators, investors, startups, educationists, journalists, policy makers and other key stakeholders will focus on generating our next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs. Over 800 participants are expected to attend over the 2 days.

Indian companies have a very strong record in the UK. For 2 years in a row now Indian companies have maintained their position as the third largest investor in the UK employing over 110,000 people, while the UK has consistently invested more in India that any other G20 country since the turn of the century.
In his recent speech to the India-UK TECH Summit, Prime Minister Modi talked about the ‘living bridge’ between India and the UK. Entrepreneurs and their flow of ideas are an important part of that.
The event comes hot on the heels of the national success of the Tech Rocketship Awards, where over £1 million of investment has already been made in Indian start-ups with the promise of more to come.
Many of the winners of those awards – including GetMyParking – will attend TiECON as living, breathing examples of the living bridge, having just returned from their recent tailor-made trip to the UK.
