We are keen for businesses from a wide range of backgrounds to get involved in the UK Pavilion. There are many ways to get involved:

Events

Participation in EXPO 2017 is part of a long-term commercial strategy with Kazakhstan. In November 2015, President Nazarbayev visted London and signed £3 billion of trade deals. The UK presence at EXPO 2017 will help promote new areas of business.

The UK will promote the following business sectors through a series of events:

  • oil and gas
  • mining
  • financial and professional services

UK trade missions lead by high-level guests will highlight trade and investment opportunities and the British Council will lead a cultural and educational programme.

Business Partnering

If you are looking to export to Kazakhstan in advance of the Expo, Department for International Trade (DIT) can give support and further advice. For more information, please see Exporting to Kazakhstan.

The UK Pavilion at Astana

The theme of the UK Pavilion is ‘We Are Energy’. It is being designed by a talented British consortium comprising KBW, WOO and Asif Khan. It has a footprint of 1,100 sq.m. Expo hosts estimate 2 million visitors to the site.

The UK Pavilion will focus on UK innovations and discoveries that have changed the way we live our lives, transforming communities (steam locomotion), people (electromagnetic radiation), the world (turbojet engine), and everything (www). It will ask visitors to imagine a new future, fuelled by the properties of the advanced material, graphene, discovered by Nobel Prize winning UK scientists at Manchester University.

Construction of the UK Pavilion in Astana is being led by Nussli following official site handover to UK Commissioner Rt Hon Charles Hendry.

If you have any questions about the UK pavilion you can contact AstanaExpo2017@trade.gsi.gov.uk.
