Student Loans for Higher Education in Wales: Financial Year 2024-25

This publication provides statistics on loan outlays, repayments and borrower repayment status for Wales domiciled students studying in Higher Education (HE) in the UK and EU students studying in Wales.

The figures cover Income Contingent Loans (ICR), which were introduced in 1998/99, for financial years up to and including 2024-25.

  1. Table 3A (i) Wales & EU: Number of ICR Student Loans borrowers An error was found in the ‘Future cohorts’ calculation on row 41. This figure has reduced from 81,220 to 60,497. This change has impacted the total row for ‘All ICR Borrowers, including future cohorts’, where denoted. Table 3A (ii) Wales and EU: Percentage of ICR Student Loans borrowers (%) The %’s for the ‘All ICR Borrowers including future cohorts’ on row 41, derived from Table 3A (i) have been amended accordingly.
