Student loans in England: financial year 2024-25
This publication provides statistics on loan outlays, repayments of loans and borrower activity for English domiciled students studying in higher education (HE) and further education (FE) in the United Kingdom (UK) and European Union (EU) students studying in England.
The figures cover Income Contingent Loans (ICR), which were introduced in 1998/99, for financial years up to and including 2024-25.

Table 3A (i) Higher Education - England & EU: Number of ICR Student Loans borrowers (000s) An error was found in the ‘Future cohorts’ calculation on row 41. This figure has reduced from 1,672.8 to 1,309.1. This change has impacted the total row for ‘All ICR Borrowers, including future cohorts’, where denoted. Table 3A (ii) Higher Education - English & EU: Percentage of ICR Student Loans borrowers (%) The %’s for the ‘All ICR Borrowers including future cohorts’ on row 81, derived from Table 3A (i) have been amended accordingly.
