Provisional estimates of road traffic, by

in Great Britain for the year ending June 2026.
Provisional estimates show motor vehicles travelled 343.5 billion vehicle miles in Great Britain for the year ending June 2026. This is up 1.5% compared to the year ending June 2025. Traffic levels were 1.5% above pre-pandemic levels.
When compared to the year ending June 2025:
- car traffic increased by 1.6% to 262.7 billion vehicle miles
- van traffic increased by 1.6% to 59.6 billion vehicle miles
- lorry traffic showed little change (-0.5%) at 16.4 billion vehicle miles
- traffic on motorways increased by 1.5% to 71.7 billion vehicle miles
- traffic on ‘A’ roads increased by 1.5% to 152.1 billion vehicle miles
- traffic on minor roads increased by 1.5% to 119.7 billion vehicle miles
