Provisional estimates of road traffic, by:

• vehicle type
• road class

in Great Britain for the year ending June 2020.

Provisional estimates show motor vehicles travelled 305.4 billion vehicle miles (bvm) in Great Britain for the year ending June 2020.

When compared to the year ending June 2019:

• all motor vehicle traffic decreased by 13.6%
• car traffic decreased by 15.2% to 234.1 billion vehicle miles
• van traffic decreased by 7.3% to 50.9 billion vehicle miles
• lorry traffic decreased by 7.8% to 16.0 billion vehicle miles
• traffic on motorways decreased by 17.3% to 57.9 billion vehicle miles
• traffic on ‘A’ roads decreased by 14.1% to 128.6 billion vehicle miles
• traffic on minor roads decreased by 11.1% to 118.9 billion vehicle miles
