National Accounts Articles - Alternative Measures of Real Households' Disposable Income and the Saving Ratio

There are a number of components within the National Accounts Measure of Real Household Disposable Income (RHDI) which, though they are important in the context of measuring economic output, do not fully represent the experience of households in the same way as survey sources. This article looks to assess the impact of removing these “imputed” components and constructs a measure of RHDI from the accounts which is a closer to that of other surveys and is therefore a better representation of the economic experience of households.
