Until 2017, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) released the National Statistic ‘Higher education statistics for the United Kingdom’.
As part of its Open Data Strategy, HESA is replacing this publication with individual releases of its components in open data format from 2018 onwards, the first of which is launched on 8 February 2018. HESA confirmed the changes to this publication in October 2017.
Over the course of 2018, HESA will release the following publications:
- Students in Higher Education 2016 to 2017 (8 February 2018, in open data format)
- Staff in Higher Education 2016 to 2017 (February 2018, and will be published in open data format from 2019 onwards)
- HE Finance Plus 2016 to 2017 (March 2018, and will be published in open data format from 2019 onwards)
- Finances of Higher Education Providers 2016 to 2017 (April 2018, and will be published in open data format from 2019 onwards)
- Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education 2016 to 2017 (July 2018, and will be published as Graduate Outcomes in open data format from 2020 onwards).
The Student Loans Company, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and Office of National Statistics data previously contained in the publication will continue to be signposted from the HESA website, for the benefit of users of this data.
