Provisional data for January to March 2014. The statistics include average speeds for the weekday morning peak period on local ‘A’ roads in England.

In the year ending March 2014, provisional data show that the average speed on locally managed ‘A’ roads in England during the weekday morning peak was 24.6 mph. This is a 0.5% decrease on the year-ending December 2013.

For individual months, average speeds on local ‘A’ roads in England were similar in January 2014 and slower in February and March 2014 (decreases of 2.9% and 2.0% respectively) compared to the same months in 2013.
