Details

These publications contain National Statistics on child maintenance schemes operated through the Child Support Agency (CSA) up to March 2018.

Our background information document gives an explanation of the quarterly summary of statistics and the methodology used to compile the data used in the statistics.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for the child maintenance system in Great Britain. We fund information and support for separating parents and run the statutory child maintenance schemes, currently operated through the CSA.

DWP assumed responsibility for CSA from the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission on 1 August 2012, following an announcement on 14 October 2010 that the commission would become an executive agency of DWP. The commission had responsibility for the CSA between 1 November 2008 and 31 July 2012. Before that, DWP had responsibility for CSA.
