Estimates the total number of private sector businesses in the UK at the start of each year, with their associated employment and turnover. Further information is provided by number of employees, legal status, industry and geography. Note that methodological changes introduced for Business Population Estimates 2010 and a further improvement for this edition mean that previously published estimates are not directly comparable to this release. Underlying data for this publication is also available in a machine processable format on the Transparency/Report Data webpage.
