Details

Statistics on data parking badges for disabled people (‘Blue Badges’) in England. The main Blue Badge statistics are derived from the Blue Badge Improvement Service (BBIS) database.

For badges held as at 31 March 2017:

  • 2.38 million were held
  • 42% were issued without further assessment
  • 4.3% of the population held a Blue Badge

For badges issued between 1 April 2016 and 31 March 2017:

  • 887,000 were issued
  • 41% were issued without further assessment

A consultation on eligibility for the Blue Badge scheme was launched in January 2018.
