Annual enrolments at schools and in funded preschool education in Northern Ireland, 2018/19

The school census gathers details on, for example, pupil gender, year group, religion, ethnicity, special educational needs, etc. Schools are classified according to type, or management type, to allow analysis of various sectors to take place. Geographical analysis is also conducted.

Revision Note:

This bulletin was revised on the 25th March to correct the number of pupils in years 8-12/sixth form (Fig 3b) and the number of pupils in nursery units/reception (Fig 1, Table 2a, Table 2c, Table 3, Table 7) and on the 29th April 2019 to correct the number of institutions (Sect 1.1), the number of single-registered pupils at EOTAS centres (decreased by 3; Section 6.4, Table 2a, Table 3, Table 5, Table 6a and Table 7) and the number of Primary schools with funded Nursery Units (Table 1a).
