Measuring tax gaps: June 2018
Statistics relating to estimates of tax gaps - the difference between tax collected and that, which in HMRC's view, should be collected - for the tax year 2016-17. Estimates for tax gaps were previously published annually in October. From this year onwards, the annual tax gap estimates will be published in June. The next release will be published at 09:30 on 14 June 2018. Tobacco tax gaps estimates for 2016-17 will be included in this report. These were previously published as a separate publication. There will be no further supplementary publications of tobacco tax gaps estimates. Tobacco tax gaps estimates for 2017-18 will be released in June 2019 as part of the Measuring Tax Gaps series.
