Explaining private rental growth
In evaluating measures of rental prices, some users have compared ONS rental price indices against the growth in average private rental prices published by Valuation Office Agency (VOA). Both statistics are based on the same underlying private rental market data collected by VOA rent officers. This article evaluates the construction of each statistic, quantifying the differences in growth rates.
