Details

The Summer 2022 wave of the PAT was collected between 9 June and 7 July 2022 using a new push-to-web methodology, covering a sample of 4,491 individuals in the UK.

The new methodology uses random probability sampling. Respondents are invited to participate through letters sent out to addresses randomly selected from the postcode address file (PAF). They can complete the survey online or on paper.

These results should not be compared with the face-to-face results or online panel results from previous waves due to selection and measurement effects. A summary of the methodology is provided in the Technical Overview report. A more detailed description of the survey methodology for Autumn 2021 to Summer 2022 together with core survey metrics is given in the Technical Report .

The results have been split into topic-based reports. These reports also include the results from previous waves from Autumn 2021 onwards, and make comparisons with these results where possible. The Consumer Issues report was not updated in this wave as questions on these topics were not asked and the latest results on these topics can be found in the Spring 2022 wave .

Some topic-based reports have been added or renamed since Spring 2022 after new questions were added to the survey. The previous report on Workers’ Rights has been renamed Worker’s Rights, Businesses and Trade. Some results previously published in the Heat and Energy in the Home report have been moved to a new report on Energy Bills and Tariffs.

From Summer 2022 onwards we are no longer publishing the PAT datasets but more detailed versions will be available via the Secure Research Service (SRS). This change was proposed when the results from Spring 2022 were published and no comments were received from users.

We are always interested in feedback on the Public Attitudes Tracker. If you have any comments or questions on this publication, please contact us at BEISPAT@beis.gov.uk.
