Youth offending teams: local partnership working

This document gives updated guidance for youth offending teams (YOTs) on effective governance of youth justice services in England.

Applies to England and Wales

This guidance provides general and specific requirements for the provision of local youth justice services and their management arrangements.

It will help local authorities and statutory partners in health, police and probation fulfil statutory duties in relation to the delivery and management of youth justice services locally, whether they are new to such work or experienced.

It will also be of use to non-statutory partners who contribute to the delivery and oversight of local youth justice services, such as senior housing officers, magistrates or voluntary sector representatives.

YOT management boards may also be referred to as youth justice partnership boards.
