Youth Justice Board Twitter policy

1. The @_YJB Twitter account

The @_YJB Twitter account is managed by the Youth Justice Board’s (YJB) communications team.

We do not use automation, such as tools which generate tweets from RSS feeds, to post content on Twitter.

If you follow @_YJB you can expect tweets covering:

  • speeches by our chair, chief executive and policy experts
  • updates on recent developments in youth justice practice
  • links to new or updated youth justice content
  • occasional live events
  • retweets of key youth justice announcements or news from UK Government departments, youth justice sector organisations, colleagues and partners
  • news stories and press releases

The YJB’s communications team is bound by the Civil Service Code, and cannot engage on issues of party politics.

1.1 Replies and direct messages

We welcome feedback from followers and will read all @ replies. However, we will not always be able to reply individually to all of the messages we receive via Twitter, because of resource constraints. Sending messages to our Twitter feed will not be considered as contacting the YJB for any official purpose. Contact the YJB for official correspondence.

1.2 Following

We will follow organisations of relevance and may follow individuals where appropriate. We will cease to follow accounts we believe are malicious or spam. The fact that we follow a Twitter account does not imply endorsement of any kind. We will not automatically follow an account that follows us.

1.3 Availability

The communications team will generally update and monitor our Twitter account during office hours only, Monday to Friday. Twitter may occasionally become unavailable. The YJB cannot accept responsibility for lack of service due to Twitter downtime.
