Young people and youth justice: review of engagement techniques

Research on how youth offending teams can best engage with young people and get them to take part in youth justice services.

The research was carried out by Ipsos MORI on behalf of the Youth Justice Board (YJB) and involved:

  • a discussion group with a small group of youth offending team workers
  • an online survey of 421 youth offending team workers across England and Wales
  • 125 interviews with practitioners and young people

The report includes recommendations for YOTs and the YJB - such as involving families and sharing examples of effective techniques.
