Guidance for applicants, installers and manufacturers on the Workplace Charging Scheme.



The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a voucher-based scheme that provides support towards the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle chargepoints.

This guidance is aimed at all users of the scheme:

  • applicants - businesses, charities and public sector organisations
  • electric vehicle chargepoint installers
  • manufacturers of electric vehicle chargepoint equipment

  1. Removed references to ‘franchises’ (and the conditions under which they can apply) and replaced with a new set of conditions under which ‘linked enterprises’ can apply together with an explanation of what constitutes a linked enterprise (this will include most franchises). Also updated installers' required data communication channels, and changed all instances of OLEV to OZEV.

  2. The Guidance has been revised to reflect changes to the grant rate from £500 to £350, and doubling of chargepoint sockets allowed from 20 to 40. The changes are effective from 1st April 2020.
