Wessex Water Services Limited: application made to impound water

Wessex Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the Kent Drove Rhyne at National Grid References ST 40 39, ST 41 39, ST 40 39 and ST 40 39.

Water will be obstructed or impeded to create a new wetland system diverting flows from the Kent Drove Rhyne into a series of wetland cells for treatment, with an outlet to Mill Brook.

The construction of a new fixed weir in the channel of the Kent Drove Rhyne set at 9.6 metres Above Ordnance Datum is proposed to divert water into the Kent Drove wetland system to enhance the biodiversity in the area.
