This agreement is published as part of the Code of Practice for public authorities disclosing information under Chapters 1, 3 and 4 (Public Service Delivery, Debt and Fraud) of Part 5 of the Digital Economy Act 2017.
The pilot’s aim is for the Welsh Government to share data with HMRC on businesses receiving assistance and payments through the Economic Resilience Fund. HMRC to match this with HMRC-held information for purposes of fraud detection.
The main benefit is to allow HMRC to match fund data provided by the Welsh Government to its own data to identify potential fraud among Economic Resilience Fund recipients.
